Dr Gemma Blain is an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist consulting from the Sydney Gynaecology and Endometriosis Centre in Macquarie St, Sydney and Royal Prince Alfred Medical Centre, Newtown. She has a particular interest in laparoscopic surgery and vulval disorders, as well as experience in managing heavy periods, pelvic pain, abnormal pap smears, and family planning issues.
As a qualified obstetrician, Gemma has experience in managing both normal and complex pregnancies. As a mother herself, she understands what a special time pregnancy is for a woman and their partner, and the significance of a collaborative approach to the pregnancy and birthing journey. Gemma recognizes the importance of choice in the birthing experience, whilst ensuring that the wellbeing of both mother and baby are not compromised.
Following completion of a Bachelor of Science in biotechnology, she completed her medical degree with honours through the University of Sydney, and a Masters in Reproductive Medicine through the University of New South Wales. Gemma completed her basic obstetrics and gynaecology training at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and undertook advanced training in gynaecology and laparoscopic surgery at the Royal Hospital for Women and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. She currently works as a Visiting Medical Officer at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and has admitting rights at The Mater Hospital.
